No. 3: Your voice is still in there. It’s just been very quiet lately.

To unherd is to be heard.

You still have opinions. Real ones – not the kind that form in the thirty seconds after you read something online, but the slower kind. The ones that have been quietly accumulating in the background while you were busy with other things. You just haven’t heard them in a while.

This is not a character flaw. It is a perfectly logical response to living in the loudest era in human history. When everything is urgent and everyone is broadcasting, the sensible thing to do is compress – say less, share the safe version, keep the complicated thoughts for later. Later, of course, never quite arrives.

To unherd is to create the conditions where your own voice can actually get a word in. That looks different for everyone. For some it is a walk without a podcast. For others it is writing something down – not for anyone else, just to see what comes out. For others still it is simply sitting somewhere quiet and letting a thought finish itself without interruption.

The voice doesn’t need much. Just a little space. And the decision, made on purpose, to give it some.

Fun Fact

Here’s how we see it: Here’s how we see it. The most surprising thing about your own opinion is that you have one. You’ve just been talking over it.
